SSS 1: INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICS

PHYSICS is a branch of pure science that deals with the study of matter and energy and how they interact with each other. This energy can take the form of motion, light, electricity, radiation, gravity, etc.

        Subject areas in physics
Physics as a subject is divided into the following broad branches which are
1. Mechanics
2. Waves
3. Electromagnetism
4. Optics
5. Nuclear physics
6. Thermodynamics

•Mechanics is a branch of physics that deals with motion under the influence of forces. This includes both bodies in motion and bodies at rest.

•Waves is a branch of physics that deals with the propagation of energy through space.

•Electromagnetism is a branch of physics that deals with the interaction of electric and magnetic fields.

•Optics is a branch of physics that deals with the behavior of light in various media such as glass and water

•Nuclear physics deals with the behavior of particles of the nucleus and the accompanying energy changes

•Thermodynamics deals with how heat as a form of energy is transformed into other forms of energy
