SSS 1: INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICS

Physics is a branch of pure science that deals with the study of matter, energy, and the interactions between them. Energy exists in different forms such as motion, light, electricity, radiation, and gravity.

          Branches of Physics
Physics is divided into the following major branches:
1. Mechanics
2. Waves
3. Electromagnetism
4. Optics
5. Nuclear Physics
6. Thermodynamics

1. Mechanics is the branch of physics that deals with the motion of bodies under the influence of forces. It includes both bodies at rest and bodies in motion.

2. Waves is the branch of physics that deals with the propagation or transfer of energy through space or matter.

3. Electromagnetism is the branch of physics that studies the interaction between electric and magnetic fields.

4. Optics is the branch of physics that deals with the behavior and properties of light in different media such as glass and water.

5. Nuclear Physics is the branch of physics that deals with the behavior of particles in the nucleus and the energy changes associated with them.

6. Thermodynamics is the branch of physics that deals with heat energy and its conversion into other forms of energy.
